Go Ahead London’s buses are on the Capital’s roads 24 hours a day. These vehicles are equipped with the latest technologies and innovations. We expect them to be maintained to the highest standards and ready to go into service at a moment’s notice.


A vacancy has arisen for a Service Centre Manager at our Camberwell garage. This is a key post reporting to the Workshop Manager. We are looking for motivated individuals who can demonstrate first class people management skills with a "hands on" approach and the ability to work effectively under pressure.


The principle duties of the post are:

  • Working as an integral part of a team inspecting all types of vehicles on their 8

weekly full service inspections.

  • Safety, monitoring of performance, maintenance of standards and discipline of


  • Identifying work required and allocating work to staff under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Identify material required and to liaise with the Stores to ensure materials are

on site to enable the vehicle to be returned to service within the shortest

possible time.

  • Ensure work is undertaken to the standards laid down by Go Ahead London

and DVSA.

  • Ensure maximum availability of vehicles and reducing mechanical lost

mileage to the absolute minimum.

  • To deputise for the Workshop Manager in their absence.
  • Liaise with other engineering staff.


The Service Centre Manager is also required to undertake the tasks of the staff they supervise. Achievement of NVQ level 3 or equivalent is a requirement of this post.


The consolidated salary for this post (LG30) is £41,462 per annum. The successful applicant will be required to work a 38-hour week working early/late shifts. Further information on this post is available from Mick Reavill, Engineering Manager at the Camberwell Garage on 020 7064 5713.
