Who are we

Go-Ahead London is the largest provider of bus services in London. We employ over 8,000 colleagues working from 17 locations. Our Finance Team provides a key analytical role for all departments and locations including providing analysis of costs by route, garage and company. The purpose of the team is to provide financial and operational information to support the business in making the best decisions by being forward thinking, proactive and timely.

 

The Team are now looking to add a Financial, Planning and Analysis Analyst who can support the team objectives and assist in producing and analysing the 3 year corporate plan, budget and quarterly forecasts.

The primary focus of this role will be to business partner the Engineering department, analysing all related Bus cost (CAPEX, maintenance & labour) of our fleet of +2,400 buses.

Responsibilities

Some of the key accountabilities are listed below :-

  • Business Planning - Working as part of the Financial Planning & Analysis Team, produce the 3-year Corporate Plan, Garage Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts, including analysis of planning assumptions, financials and KPIs.
  • Business Partnering – Developing close and trusted working relationships with executive heads and their senior management team, providing them with advice and support for decision making. Additionally establish yourself as the Lead Finance representative for 2 or 3 Garages and attend periodic Garage performance reviews.
  • Management Accounts – Working with the Management Accounts team, analyse period end performance at both Company and Garage level against forecast and budget. Prepare variance analysis using a simple narrative to explain period results; identify and follow up specific issues, proposing corrective actions.
  • Quarterly Business Review Packs – Provide analysis and insight of past performance using visual narratives; as well as analysis of risks and opportunities for future performance.
  • Value Adding Analysis - Provide forward looking, insightful analysis that identifies opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Financial Reporting & Modelling - Develop finance reporting and analysis using IBM Planning Analytics/TM1 and prepare financial models to assist with key business decisions.

Additionally, you will establish yourself as the Deputy for the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, working as part of the team undertaking reporting, analysis and projects as required.  We are looking for a positive, self motivated person who can demonstrate a clear desire to succeed.  You will by nature be inquisitive and able to think strategically in order to contribute to the long term vision of the finance team.  You must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and team working skills coupled with hands on and collaborative approach to the work.

 

You will be a CIMA / ACCA / ACA fully qualified accountant with proven commercial acumen in a commercial focused finance team.  You will take responsibility for your actions and be able to prioritise a wide range of business requirements.  Excellent knowledge of MS Excel; PowerPoint and IBM Planning Analytics/TM1 is highly desirable and additionally it would be of benefit to have knowledge of Oracle and IFRS 16 leases.
