YARD CONTROLLER – MORDEN WHARF


As a Run out Controller, you undertake a safety critical role in monitoring the vehicle and
pedestrian movements during the morning period. A key part of your role is always ensuring
that the company health and safety standards are maintained, particularly those that are
relevant to the vehicle movement areas are being adhered to by all Go Ahead London
colleagues, contractors and visitors are wearing correct PPE, Hi-Vis vests and using the correct
walkways. Additionally, you should ensure that garage noise levels are kept to a minimum.


Key Responsibilities


• Ensuring that the movement of colleagues and visitors is kept to a minimum within the
vehicle movement area. Where it is necessary ensure that company health and safety
policies including not using mobile devices and wearing appropriate hi viz are adhered
to.
• Ensuring bus allocation is safe, effective, and efficient, and that if allocation of replacement
vehicles is required, this will be carried out promptly and efficiently to keep lost mileage to
a minimum.
• Reporting any serious issues immediately to the relevant manager irrespective of the time
of the morning.
• Liaising with engineering to ensure that any vehicle defects are dealt with.
• Ensuring iBus are informed promptly of any delays that may impact the delivery of a bus
service.
• Building good working relationships with all colleagues to ensure a consistent team
approach to the delivery of vehicles, safely and efficiently, for the daily delivery of a bus
service across London. This will include Engineering, Operations, and Performance teams.
• Ensuring that pre-service checks are completed to a satisfactory standard on Tranzaura and
that the Tranzaura sheets are audited following the run out.
• Overseeing all vehicle movements and parking within the garage, ensuring that this is
carried out safely for drivers and pedestrians, including visitors, deliveries, and all
colleagues.


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, CONDITIONS, PERSON SPECIFICATION:


• It is imperative that you have the confidence to take charge and can monitor vehicle and
pedestrian movements across your garage and are able to manage and report incidents
that may occur effectively and calmly.
• Challenge working practices across the garage particularly where you identify areas of
possible improvement whilst also being able to embrace any suggested new working
practices and initiatives.
• Ability to be able to communicate at relevant levels across the business and have the
patience and knowledge to coach and help any new colleagues to the business.
