Transactional Finance Assistant

The Role
This is a hands-on transactional finance role, ideal for someone who is reliable, organised and confident working with numbers. You will support the day-to-day processing of financial transactions across Accounts Payable, banking, reconciliations and expenses, helping to ensure accuracy, control and timely delivery.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, taking ownership of tasks from start to finish and contributing to a well-established team that values consistency, teamwork and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Processing supplier invoices, credit notes and employee expense claims in line with company policies
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries or discrepancies
- Supporting payment runs in accordance with agreed terms and approval processes
Banking & Reconciliations
- Completing daily bank reconciliations
- Accurately recording receipts, payments and internal transfers
- Supporting cash-related activities, including VAT processes and cash forecasting
Month-End & Controls
- Assisting with month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate records for key accounts such as creditors and cash
- Providing transactional data to support reporting, audits and reviews
Operational Support
- Liaising with operational, engineering and procurement teams to validate invoices
- Supporting internal and external audit requests
- Identifying opportunities to improve transactional processes
- Providing cover and support to colleagues when required
About You
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, detail-focused and comfortable working with numbers in an administrative or finance environment.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts or numeracy-focused administrative role
- Confidence using Excel and financial systems
- A good understanding of basic accounting principles and reconciliations
- High attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
- A positive, team-focused approach with strong communication skills
- The ability to manage routine tasks reliably while handling queries professionally
Experience in transport, logistics or a similar operational environment is helpful, but not essential.
