Lead Recruitment at the Heart of London’s Bus Network

Go-Ahead London is the capital’s largest bus operator, moving millions of passengers every day across a complex and high-demand network.

To keep London moving, we need the very best people behind the wheel — and that starts with recruitment.

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Recruitment Centre Manager to take ownership of a fast-paced, high-volume recruitment operation, ensuring we consistently attract, hire, and onboard professional Bus Drivers and cleaning staff  at scale.

This is not a standard recruitment role — it’s an operational leadership position where pace, organisation, and leadership truly matter

The Role

You will lead the day-to-day operation of our Recruitment Centre, managing a busy pipeline of candidates from application through to onboarding.

You’ll oversee a small team, manage suppliers and contracts, and ensure the centre runs efficiently, professionally, and delivers against demanding recruitment targets.

Alongside recruitment delivery, you’ll also take ownership of supplier performance, budgets, and the overall running of the centre, making this a varied and hands-on leadership role.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading a high-volume recruitment operation – ensuring we consistently deliver against driver, Bus cleaners, fuellers and shunters recruitment targets.
  • Managing and developing your team – setting standards, driving performance, and supporting delivery
  • Overseeing the full recruitment and onboarding journey – ensuring a smooth, compliant, and professional candidate experience
  • Using data and insight to track performance, identify trends, and improve recruitment outcomes
  • Managing key supplier contracts, including right to work checks, medical providers, and agencies
  • Controlling budgets and raising purchase orders, ensuring effective use of spend
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Recruitment Centre, including facilities, standards, and contractor management
  • Managing cleaning and operational contracts across bus cleaners, fuellers, shunters, and premises teams
  • Working closely with operational stakeholders to ensure recruitment meets business needs
  • Proactively lead and embed change and transformation across the business, building resilient teams that adapt and perform in a constantly evolving environment

About You

This role needs someone who thrives in a busy, high-pressure, high-volume environment and can bring structure, pace, and leadership.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in high-volume recruitment or operational delivery (this is essential)
  • Experience managing teams and driving performance
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at pace
  • Confidence using data and reporting to make decisions and improve performance
  • Experience working with suppliers or managing contracts
  • Commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets or spend
  • A hands-on, proactive approach — you’re comfortable being in the detail while leading from the front
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships

Experience within transport, logistics, or other operational environments would be highly advantageous.

Ready for the Challenge?

If you’re an experienced recruitment or operations leader who can handle pace, manage complexity, and deliver results, we want to hear from you.
