Start Your Career with London’s Largest Bus Company

Go-Ahead London operates over 2,300 buses from 17 depots across the capital. Our
Shunters play a vital role behind the scenes — ensuring buses are safely moved,
fuelled, positioned, and prepared so they’re ready to keep London moving every day.
If you’re confident behind the wheel, safety-focused, and enjoy working in a fast-paced
environment, this could be the perfect role for you.

About the Role
We’re looking for reliable and safety-minded Mobile Shunters to join our Asset
Presentation team. You’ll be responsible for the safe movement and preparation of
buses within the garage, supporting cleaning teams, engineering teams, and
operational staff to ensure every vehicle is ready for service.
This is a physically active role and will involve working shifts, including evenings and
weekends.

What You’ll Do
• Safely manoeuvre buses within the garage, following parking plans or allocator
instructions
• You are expected to be mobile between all garages, with use of a company
vehicle which must be returned to your home depot
• Position vehicles for maintenance, cleaning, and service readiness
• Refuel buses and check essential fluids in line with company guidelines
• Ensure exterior cleaning is completed to Go-Ahead Way (GAW) standards
• Liaise with cleaning teams and position vehicles for internal cleaning
• Carry out visual checks for damage or defects and report issues promptly
• Complete movement logs and maintain accurate records of vehicle positioning
and fuelling
• Move buses to and from workshops with minimal disruption to operations
• Follow all Health & Safety, environmental, and operational procedures
What We’re Looking For
• Full UK driving licence (Category B essential; PCV licence preferred — training
may be provided)
• Ability to manoeuvre large vehicles safely in confined spaces
• Good level of physical fitness
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Flexible approach to shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Good communication skills and ability to work with yard supervisors, engineers,
and cleaners
• Previous experience in transport or logistics (desirable)
• Knowledge of basic vehicle checks and fuelling procedures (desirable)
• Willingness to undertake additional duties as required
What We Offer

• Competitive hourly rate (£15.49)
• Company pension scheme
• Training and development opportunities
• Free or discounted travel on TfL services
• Opportunities to train as a Bus Driver
